  • Inside & Out – Welcome to a Different Conversation About Prison

    Prison. People. Perspective.

There is a world behind prison walls that most people know very little about.

I know, because I’ve lived in it.

When I went to prison, I discovered how much of what I’d been told was wrong. The reality was often frightening, sometimes absurd, occasionally surprisingly funny, and always more complicated than the headlines suggested.

Since leaving prison, I’ve written Crime Doesn’t Pay, my memoir of life inside two very different women’s prisons. But there are conversations that go far beyond one book.

    That’s why I’ve created Inside & Out.

This is a place to explore prison news, criminal justice, rehabilitation, the experiences of women in custody, the families waiting outside, and the challenges of rebuilding a life after release.

I’ll share articles worth reading, examine the stories behind the headlines, and offer my own observations — sometimes serious, sometimes challenging, and occasionally with a little humour.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers. But I do have a perspective that cannot be learned from a textbook.

And I believe it’s worth sharing.
